Maybe it won't damage my machine, but I'd much prefer to buy Calgon tablets than take the risk. Ultimately, I think it may be more suitable for US style upright washing machines.

This is a pretty interesting product. It is a ball-like device with a sturdy silicone casing on the outside and a magnet inside. It utilizes a magnetic field to prevent the crystallization of salts in the water and neutralize limescale buildup. It is supposed to help reduce the use of fabric softener when you do your laundry. The directions are to throw the ball along with your laundry into a washing machine and use half the normal amount of fabric softer.I have tried this on a load of laundry and it came out soft and clean. Note that you still need to use a fabric softer but only half the normal amount. The laundry came out soft just like before. It seems to work. I like that the magnet is silicone-coated which helps prevent dinging of the washer's drum since it has a good weight to it. Anyway, if you have some degree of hardness in your water source, give this a try. It seems helpful.

I really wasn't sure what to think when this thing arrived. We have super hard water and it builds up on our dishes so they never look clean. I have tried this for about a week and it has made a significant difference in the build up not only on the dishes but inside the dishwasher as well. I don't know how long it will keep working, but I would get another one if needed.

I know there's some trick to using a tennis ball in your laundry in lieu of softeners, this seems to be another one of those alternatives. And as such an alternative, it too is going to make a lot of noise bouncing around while the load's going.One of the reviews mentioned they thought this would make it better for top-loading washers than side-loaders. A bit better, I would agree, as you don't have gravity forcing it to go all over the place... but that top loader still has to spin so unless your fabrics keep this thing firmly in place you're still in for a noisy load. (Our washer has a sensor that detects how big the load is to save on water so I'm as likely to wash this in a small load of socks--a load that gets washed separately from everything else because copper thread = specific wash instructions--as with the biweekly wash all my bedding operation.)On the plus side, eliminating gravity from the equation means I'm not worrying about whether it's going to wreck the glass top of my top-loader as I hear it bouncing around in there....Using it in the dishwasher was a little more difficult. On the one hand it does have that big hole in the middle that lets me fix it in place where I'd normally put a drinking glass or something. On the other hand... that's space that's no longer available for a drinking glass. Putting this in the silverware compartment would be far more space friendly but it's much too big to accomplish that....As for actual effectiveness... only time will tell. The more you've got built up the longer it'll take. And depending on the source of that build-up (well water and water softener in our case--ironic that water softeners USE salt for the purpose but this thing is claiming that salt is what causes hard water), it's going to take a while just because that source is never going away.

although this product is described to work on clothes washing machine as well, my intended use for it is with our dishwasher which has been causing scale markongs on our clear dishes; turning them cloudy. i have since, been using this during wash cycles for a few months now and have noticed less cloudiness on our clear drinking glasrss, clear biwls and clear plates. this is the the only evidence and my only means to conclude this product is actually working. i dont have the know-how to test it otherwise.

This caught my eye as we have exceptionally hard water and our washing is never fresh.But the limescale buster is so heavy and scary to use even though it is rubberised.There are limitations on its usage in a washing machine i.e maintain >800rpm.I think in reality this is better suited to dishwashers than a rotating drum with a glass screen.

Water is pretty hard in Somerset, where I live. My Miele washing machine is at least eight years old and still going strong. I suppose they last when you care for them. I use limescale tablets for every wash, but they are expensive nowadays, and I started using Waitrose`s own brand, which gives 45 loads in a box. I was excited to try the eco-friendly Tyroler Bright Tools limescale buster.I researched the concept, and apparently, it works by neutralising limescale and not allowing it to crystalise and deposit on the elements. The process is achieved by virtue of the magnetic field created by the device with its magnetic ions. It will probably live in my washing machine from now on. Nevertheless, I must mention that the product specifies you can use half the fabric conditioner quantity; however, I enjoy the fragrance and softness and will continue using the full cap. I can only hope the magnetic ionic device will be a wise addition because I have no way of certainly reporting the limescale deposits or lack of them. Nevertheless, I can tell it works because my laundry was intensely fragranced and soft to the touch.

I put this inside of my dishwasher and I really can't tell any difference after using for many wash cycles. We have hard water and get all kinds of water spots, rust stains, and buildup in our appliances, showers, toilets, etc. I was hoping this would help get rid of some of the buildup I see in my dishwasher, but it honestly seems the same to me. I will leave it in there and see if I start to notice any changes with more time. If so, I will update this review. I needed something to make my life easier, manually cleaning it is tedious and time consuming. I have used chemical packets in the past, but it requires and entire load to be ran and is costly, and bothersome to do. I wanted something that was worry and work free, that can be used in the machine while in use.I received this limescale buster tool from Tyroler Bright and It was heavy and pretty solid. I was afraid to put it into my new clothes washer because of the weight. It literally felt like I was putting a silicone rock into my washer's tub. But I did. And I am glad I did. The machine never made any loud noises or made my drum off balance. The weighted limescale buster tool actually helped to weigh down my sheets and kept them in the water a bit better, no air bubbles. I also used this in my dishwasher and the difference in the buildup was definitely noticeable. I prefer using this in my dishwasher for now, but I will be getting me another one for the washing machine for my clothes. I like the way it keeps my clothes from tangling and my sheets from floating in the washer. That may not be the intended purpose of this tool but it sure is an added perk. Honestly I am pleasantly surprized since I though it was just a fad. Placing this in my washing machine I honestly did not noticed any visible difference. Clothes were as clean and soft as usual but I also did not change much on the dosage of detergent since I was quite sceptical. The gadget does make a bit of noise when turning in the drum but far from be of any concern and shall try again by reducing the detergent.When I really noticed a difference it is on dishes and mostly glasses! In my dishwasher even when using value detergent all glasses that generally are cleaned but come out a bit cloudy are now shiny and streak free.At £10 it could actually be a pretty good product.

I live in an area with hard water with lots of minerals. We constantly fight calcium, lime, and rust stains on toilets, dishwashers, and washing machines. I was skeptical, but tried this out. It actually works! I am not sure of the scientific reason but I am sure I could research why magnets attract these particular minerals... whatever, the point is, it is easy to use, just toss it into your washing machine. I still added a detergent pod since I could not reduce the pod size but I noticed that there was more suds in the water. I like the fact that the metal magnet inside is well padded with a plastic shell to keep the inside of my washing machine from getting scratched up. I will keep an eye out for that though, if the plastic were to break, I am sure it would beat up the inside of my machine during the agitation cycle. Overall, another invention that I did not know existed but will change my life... OK, probably not in a major way, but my clothes will look a lot nicer... I will make more friends... I will be happier... and the birds will sing as I walk by. What is not to like about that change?

Ive definitely got a limescale issue in this old house. I dont have a dishwasher, but can use the Limescale-Buster in my washing machine. The limescale buildup is a problem in some areas, but nothing drastic. The best use for me would be to toss this most unusual household tool, as it were, in with the wash.It looks and feels like a solid block of silicone with small holes drilled through it on two sides. The idea, apparently, is that the limescale will adhere to the Limescale-Buster instead of my laundry. I usually take a pass on softeners, opting for wool balls in my dryer instead. Im hoping that, as promised, Ill be using less laundry detergent. A fascinating concept, but only time will tell if it solves the limescale issue and saves laundry detergent and fabric softener.

This little softener is working! Our water is very hard, no matter how often I clean a buildup in my dishwasher or washer, it's back there. I placed this softener with my dishes and I found the result amazing. All the white hard water buildup is gone. My dishes are sparkling. My washer is also clean without stains after drying. I can't find anything on the interweb which would be supportive of this claim.As far as improving the lifetime of appliances goes, that would take many years to come to a conclusion (our previous washing machine which we only got rid of last month - it was still working completely fine but we decided it was about time to get one with better electricity and water efficiency as well as having more modern features - was 25 years old, and we didn't do anything much in particular to prevent limescale build-up - I bet with built-in obsolescence though this new one won't last anything like 25 years...).Does washing come out any softer? Perhaps a little, based on washing some towels (without using any conditioner) where the softness can be gauged a little better perhaps than other items. This is a small (smaller than your fist) item that is dense and heavy. As it is listed on the instructions it is very easy to use. Just throw it into your washing machine and keep it there.I am not sure it is working. After a couple of uses, I was not able to notice a big difference.I will try to reduce the detergent and/or softener and will compare it with previous loads.Since it is not something that wears out I can keep it in the machine even if there is no much difference.

Having only used this product (which Im just going to refer to as a ball even though its not quite one) a short time I cannot report any change in my washing results yet. I am finding it really hard to leave a thorough review of this product as it isnt something you can clearly see. What I can say is its a heavy little piece of kit. It does clang about in the washing machine a little. I have started to use less fabric softener as it suggests so I suppose it is definitely saving me money in the long run but I cannot confirm if it is doing what it is meant to behind the scenes, I suppose time will tell¦fingers crossed!

I can't really tell if this works or not. This is a fairly heavy piece that's about 3/4 the size of a regular baseball. We have a front loading washer and it makes a fair amount of racket as it bounces around inside so I probably will not use it in the washer anymore. I think this is better suited for a top load machine. In any case we could not tell if our clothes were cleaner or softer. We have also used it in our dishwasher in which we also use a rinse aid so we don't get hard water spots anyway. Since we have it, I'll just leave it in the dishwasher. I wish there was some way to measure the true effects before and after instead of relying upon anecdotal evidence.
